On 3rd August 2022, the Australia Institute posted both a video, and a transcript, of a conversation between Pat Anderson, Professor Megan Davis and Archie Law about the Uluru Statement from the Heart and its three objectives: a Voice to Parliament, Treaty, and Truth.<\/p>\n
Beginning of the conversation, host Ebony Bennett asked about the process that led to the Uluru Statement from the Heart.<\/p>\n
In response, Pat Anderson noted that ‘we’ve been doing this since before 1840.’<\/p>\n
‘Every generation of us has had a go at getting us to be acknowledged and accepted and
\nrespected as the first peoples of this beautiful continent of ours. We’ve been here. The latest figure, our bridge over 100,000 years. It’s commonly said to be 65,000, but of course, that’s what the scientists say. But for us, we believe we have always been. We didn’t come from anywhere else. This is definitely, absolutely our place over millennia….’<\/p>\n
