Over fifty per cent of the poems in the manuscript have been published in Australian literary journals or anthologies, with one published in ‘Poetry New Zealand’. Elanna has been publishing poetry for around twenty years. Her collection achieves a vibrant, accessible work of quality which engages current issues related to our physical and social environment.

BIO

Elanna Herbert was born and spent many years living and
working in Canberra. She has also lived on the outskirts of a
small rural village in the Yass valley of New South Wales and in Perth, Western Australia. She now lives and writes from Yuin
country on the south coast of New South Wales. Elanna’s work appears in numerous journals and anthologies. She won the June Shenfield National Poetry Award (2020) and shortlisted for the Australian Catholic University (ACU) Prize for Poetry (2021). She has twice been the runner up for Queensland Poetry’s Emerging Older Poets’ Mentorship Award.

Previous books include a collection of short fiction, Frieda and
the Cops (Ginninderra Press, 2005) the manuscript of which
won the Marion Eldridge Award (National Foundation for
Australian Women) and an academic monograph Neohistorical Fiction and Hannah’s Place: A Creative Response to Colonial Representation (VDM Verlag, 2008). Elanna holds a Doctorate in Communication from the University of Canberra.
