LORRAINE HAIG

Haiku

summer clouds
sift their shadows
through long grass

dark horizon
black cockatoos stir
the scent of rain

between shadows
the echidna walking
on moonlight

fireworks
the last star falls
to earth

cloudless moon
a pademelon nibbles
its shadow

midday camp
only the heat haze moves

fast train -
travelling with us
rice fields

early market
fish breathe
out of water

old temple –
butterfly rests
on the closed door
