ROBIN LOFTUS
Poetry—'For a Japanese Sculptor - Akira'

tensile strength of muscle
Zen-lifting heavy stone blocks
lets sculptures soar

giving me a rose
your small stone-roughened hands
touch me

night wind in bamboos
the garden sings roses
and dawn birds’ flight

green bamboos sway
promise strong frames
for the tea-house dream

blocks of stone your walls
stars your roof-tree
clear water your floor
