SHARYN MUNRO: HOBART BOOKSHOP, THURSDAY 4TH APRIL, 2013

“… my publisher, Exisle, suggested that I do a book on coal’s impact nationally. They thought about seventy thousand words, and they wanted it in about nine months. and I really agonised as to whether I could do it, it wasn’t really my sort of thing, but … my conscience wouldn’t let me say no, it was an issue I really care about … so I blame the nuns!!! We had no idea what I was taking on, but fortunately, in the contract we had a clause inserted re the deadline, ‘or later if need be’ – and actually the gestation was a really really painful two years later.’
