'DOMINATOR IN THE SHADOWS'

R.G. "Ray" Schollick's Foreword to 'Dominator in the Shadows'

OTHER BOOKS BY PETER UREN

'The Old Mechanic'

Peter Uren grew up in the Illawarra region of New South Wales. His love affair with motorcycles was kindled when he purchased his first bike, a Suzuki A80 two-stroke, when he left high school. Numerous other bikes followed including: a Suzuki GSX250, Suzuki GSX750, Yamaha XJ900, Yamaha FZ1, BMW K1200GT, Harley-Davidson Road King Classic and a Buell Ulysses XB12X.

After a 23 year career in the Royal Australian Air Force, he settled in the Port Stephens region, serving a further seven years with the Department of Defence.

In his retirement, Peter still enjoys riding, albeit on three wheels rather than two. His current mount is a Can-Am Spyder Roadster RSS. His other hobbies include photography and, of course, writing.

Set three years later than his first book 'The Old Mechanic', Dominator in the Shadows tells the story of two men who each have a dream to own their chosen motorcycle: one a Vincent Black Shadow, the other a Norton Dominator 99 650SS. The story again takes the reader through the process of restoring an old classic motorcycle. Along the way, they maintain, repair and service many classic British motorbikes.

But the book is more than just about motorcycles; it is a story of the blossoming love between the boss's daughter and her 'accidental hero', and the final realisation by the main character that material possessions are a poor substitute for what is really important in life.
