nocturnal passages where you discovered
wonder under hedges from mimicry's
primordial stash.

You, the only wanderer in Golgotha
without a partner, in the garden near the pool
as the bronze statues of dancers hide.

JULIE CHEVALIER writes poetry and short stories in the front room of a terrace house near wetlands and bike paths in the inner west of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. In the past she has taught English, ceramics and art. Now she sometimes teaches poetry and short story workshops for New South Wales Writers Centre, South Coast Writers’ Centre, Central Coast Poetry Group, Gloucester Poetry Group and the Sydney WEA. Her teaching and mentoring as well as her writing are inspired by the writers who have critiqued her drafts, helping her to write better.
