JOEL DEANE

Rhetorica

The rhetoric of the age is not written in words,
but spelled out in the disarray of deconstructed,
                                                        disembodied bodies.
The hieroglyphics of slaughter:
An ideographic of evisceration without a Rosetta –
Each victim claiming they are the alpha of martyrdom;
Each avenger vowing they will be the omega of retribution.
Male, Female. Mother, Son. Father, Daughter.
Muslim, Christian. Arab, Jew.
                                                       Alpha and Omega all.
A personified, collective stream of subconsciousness
That runs on and on towards the inevitable
                                                       punctuation mark.
