MARK O'FLYNN

     Haiku

Spiderweb hanging
in its heavy nest of lace
patient for dinner.

               Climbing the mountain
a black bird shrieks into the
                  shadow of evening.

                    Cars negotiate the bitumen
ordered as ants at a sugar spill.

                                   The mirror stares back
long after I have left its
                                            empty reflection.

Mark O'Flynn is a playwright, poet, fiction writer and essayist. He lives in the Blue Mountains, NSW.
